Rasmus Prehn was appointed Danish Minister for Food, Agriculture and Fisheries in Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen's Government on 19 November 2020, representing the Danish Social Democrats. Prior to his appointment, he served as Minister for Development Cooperation from 27 June 2019.
The Danish Government has set an ambitious goal in terms of cutting Denmark’s greenhouse gas emissions with 70 percent by 2030. Tackling the food loss and waste challenge is at the same time one of the top priorities on Prehn’s political agenda.
Rasmus Prehn has an extensive parliamentary career. He has served as elected member of the Danish Parliament since 2005. Prehn is married to Heidi and together they have three children.
